Our 68th auciton (April 30) has just finished. Despite the difficult economic and political circumstances, we are very pleased with the interest of the collector community in our sale and our turnover of +160.000 EUR.
The tendency in this auction is clear: rare and top items are more in demand than ever before. Collectors seem to prefer quality to quantity and let this be our speciality... This resulted in no less than 64 lots selling between 500 and 15.000 EUR.
Almost all highlight lots sold, e.g. Compagnie des Indes (1770): 15.000 EUR, Confederate Bonds collection: 10.000 EUR and the Chinese Imperial Government bond from 1905: 12.000 EUR. There was also much interest in the Portuguese railroad collection while the panorama collection was largely unwanted (apart from the best pieces). Top selling countries were India, Belgian Congo and Spain. For obvious regions, Russia was much less popular than before. Also Great Britain and the Netherlands attracted little interest.
Until May 22, unsold lots can be obtained on a first come, first served basis. Don't hesitate to contact us: mario.boone@skynet.be.
best regards,
Mario

Our most recent auction (16 Oct. 2021) broke the world record for highest price ever paid for a historic share! After fierce bidding, 120.000 EUR (+20,57% auction commission) was paid for the French share in the Compagnie des Indes Orientales (French East India Co.). Its very early date, 1665, makes it also the oldest share ever auctioned. The company was founded in Paris by First MInister of State Jean-Baptiste Colbert with the strong backing of King Louis XIV. For over a century, It was the main French trading company with Asia. It is the first time a share, as a collectible, fetches a price above the 100.000 EUR mark.
Also the other 1365 lots in the auction attracted a lot of interrest. See result list (menu on the left). No less than 37 items sold for +1000 EUR. Unsold items can still be purchased during the after sale period until November 14 on a first come, first served basis.
Our next auction will take place in April 2022. We accept consignments of rare individual items as well as interesting collections from now until the end of 2021.
