NEW YORK. Shares Preferred Stock. red. No 1664. Inc.1831 to build a horse-drawn streetcar line from south to north Manhattan. Tracks were laid in the Bowery, from Prince St. up Fourth Ave. to 14th St. By 1837 the line had reached Harlem. In 1873 it was a full railway line, reaching to Chatham near Albany (130 miles), and was acquired by the New York Central & Hudson Valley RR Co. In its later days, the N-Y. & H. RR was part of the Vanderbilt empire, with Cornelius as President, William H. as Vice-president, and Cornelius, Jr, as Treasurer. Usual train vignette found on the N-Y. & H. RR shares. This red type is seldom seen.
