Lotnumber: 1155
4,5% 1st.Mortg.gold Bond £200. brown, black. No 1525. Very large format, with central fold and a few tiny edge-splits. The company was formed in the U.S.A. in 1906 to reorganise and expand the railway system in southern Brazil, and to encourage settlement and development, to give greater markets for the railways. The company achieved quite a lot, but the problems were too great, and it went into liquidation after 10 years (leaving behind various types of attractive unpaid bonds and shares for collectors). The obligations are much less common than the shares. This Waterlow print shows the familiar train crossing a bridge.
