Certificato di Capitale. black. No 43778. Type: 'Libera'and expressed in Scudi, which was the currency of the Papel States until 1866. Bond with interest due by the Papal Treasury. Papal coat of arms. Issued under the reign of Pope Pius IX, after Petrus the longest-reigning Pope in history. Hewas not only Pope, but also the (last) Sovereign Ruler of the Papel States. His rule was considered secular though ended when - after a short fight - in 1870 Rome was annexed to the Kingdom of Italy. Only the State of Vatican City remained under the sovereignty of the Pope.
