Kurland, or Courland, is a coastal district of Latvia, which was ruled by a Teutonic order of knights for centuries under coming under Russian influence in the early 18th century, and formally part of Russia in 1795. The German influence stayed in the region until WWII, when the German community was finally expelled. Very few pieces from that region have been seen.
