DORDRECHT. Aandeel van 500 Gulden. gold, black. No 69. Folds with some repaired-edge splits. 4-page share with on the inside the 'reederij contract' or company statutes. Surely the finest of all Netherlands shipping shares - a country not noted for highly decorative shares. The one is superb - large format, with the whole upper half showing the barque "GrootmeesterNationaal" under sail, the arms of the country (twice), a design inscribed Nederlandsch Groot Oosten (suggesting where the ship will sail), little angels reading the bible, a lady with an anchor, a medallion showing the King, shipping themes and cargo, a great glass chandelier (we don't know why! To bring light to the world?), leaves and flowers, and so much more. There is a strong Dutch masonic connection - not just the masonic symbols, but also the motto "Silentio et Fide". The two coat-of-arms and some of the lettering, is in gold-print. Early date too.
