"A" Shares of 5 Shillings. blue, black. No 7292. Folds with several small edge-splits, also a little brown staining. Formed 1928, changed name to Baird Television Co. in 1930. Owned all the rights to the Baird inventions for television. The Scottish engineer James Logie Baird formed his own company, Television Ltd in 1925, and succeeded in transmitting a moving image (1925). He is worldwide regarded as the inventor of the world's first practical, publicly demonstrated televison system (1926), and also the world's first fully electronic colour television tube (1928). Baird set up the Baird Television Co. in 1928 and it made in the same year the first transatlantic television transmission, from London to New York, and the first television program for the BBC. In 1940 the assets were acquired by what later became the Rank organisation. The earliest television scripophily we have ever seen. A great piece of 'modern' history!
