CROATIA. WIEN. 1/2 Antheilschein. buff, black, orange. Heavy central fold with splits (repaired) and some faint staining. Very decorative, large format, share, with the arms of Austria and Hungary, and scenes of primitive coal-mining. This half share (of only 16 shares issued) was owned by the Wiener Bank-Verein and fully paid for - 7500 guilders (at that time an enormous amount of money!). As there was only a maximum of 32 pieces, they were not numbered. 'Brood an der Save' was situated in Slavonia and until 1873 it belonged to the Austrian Empire.Very decorative mining scenes. Extremely rare, pretty and early piece.
