The American Museum of Natural History is one of the largest natural history museums in the world, located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York (near Central Park). The museum collections contain over 34 million specimens of plants, animals, fossils, meteorites, etc. and occupies more than 2 million square feet. It welcomes about 5 million visitors annually. Its history goes back to 1869 and the principal building was completed by the end of the 19th century. The museum building is often used by the television and film industry. It was for instance the setting of the film "Night at the Museum" with Ben Stiller. A most interesting addition for any important zoo collection.
