PACHUCA. 1 Accion de $100. orange, black. No 8113. The mine was at Pachuca, north of Mexico City. Small vignette of Mexico's eagle-and-snake, symbol, the mine and the smelter. Silver-mining in Pachuca (or Real del Monte) was well developed by the Spanish, but after independence was mostly in the hands of British companies, using Cornish expertise and miners. From 1848, the industry became more Mexican-owned.
