ST.-PETERSBOURG. Action de 250 Rbls. Serie 3. brown, buff, black. No 13464. Folds and minor edge-damage at the left border. Text in Russian and French. Watermark of chains, perhaps showing the company's specialty product. Founded 1825 as a state-owned shipping yard and named after Tsar Alexander I. Located alongside the Neva River and it was this company that built the first Russian steamship (1827) and submarine (1838). From 1843 onwards, they also started to produce railroad material, in particular for the Nikolai Railroad (rails, locomotives, carriages,). Privatized in 1879 to become a limited company with a capital of 1,5 million roubles. Capital increase to 2,5 million roubles in 1897 and to 5 million in 1899, of which this share is evidence.
