AMSTERDAM. Ontvangstbewijs van 18 Gulden 6 Stuivers. black. Interest receipt for an investment in government debt. Issued during the period that the Netherlands were known as the Bataafse Republiek, basically a vassal state of France. The bank was founded in 1799 by the Dutch Government. Its success was however limited, and it was dissolved in 1802. There is very little Dutch scripophily from this period. Not seen before by us.
