An ironworks is founded in St. Ingbert, a city in Saarland, in 1732 and included a hammer mill and a smelter. One of the leading people in this venture was Count Caspar von der Leyen. It also included local coal mining. Sophie Krämer bought the ironworks in 1804 and expanded its activities. It became a limited company in 1859. Merged in 1905 with Rümelinger Hochofen AG. Became part of the Luxemburg-based ARBED group in 1967.
