SYDNEY. 1 Preference Share of £100. black on blue paper. # 30. No 14. The Jungle is the same of a slice of ancient rainforest (a surviving remnant of Gondwanaland) on Sydney's doorstep, almost 1000 meters high in the Blue Mountains. In the 1920s the farmer who owned the then 280-hectare forest was made an offer by a timber company wanting the trees. Concerned citizens formed this company to purchase the forest for £5000 so that the forest could be protected. A tea house was built and the forest became a local nature-friendly tourist attraction. Today the area is integrated in the Mount Tomah Botanic Garden. Only 30 preference shares were issued.
