Inc. 1873 as a renaming of the New York, Boston & Northern Railway. The latter was formed a year before as a consolidation of the New York & Boston with the Punam & Dutchess RR and Dutchess & Columbia RR. The New York, Boston & Montreal continued north to Chatham and then use the Harlem Extension RR into Vermont. The Panic of 1873 caused the cancellation of the leases and mergers on Dec. 1 of that year. Uncancelled & extremely rare.
