ANDALUCIA. SEVILLA. Accion de 4000 reales vellon. black. No 330. Central fold. Large format, with fine large and detailed engraving by SURIA of the smelting of the company's iron-ore, also cornucopia, eagle, etc. Early date and extremely rare - we know of only two other pieces. While there's a rich variety of prettySpanish mining shares from the 1850s, and some interesting pieces from the 1840s, there are very few from the 1830s, making this a truly exceptional share. The history of this company is well documented, as its foundation is regarded as the starting point of the industrialisation in and around Sevilla. The company not only mined ore, but also produced metal through and thus exploited its own iron furnaces (as illustrated on the share). The company got into difficulties around 1865, but remained operational until 1888. From 1876 onwards, it worked together with the Ferrocarriles de Madrid a Zaragoza y a Alicante.
