CHRISTIANIA. Share of Kr.1000. green, black. #3727. No 2750. The 1850s brought the idea of linking the Siberian rivers with Europe by a Northern Sea Route. Siberian merchants wanted a cheaper route to export their raw materials to Western Europe. But it was not until 1913 that the first successful use of it was made by this company, formed by Norwegian businessman Jonas Lied. The company survived at least until the 1950s. Attractive certificate, with large underprint of a map of Siberia, and 8 different corner-vignettes showing transport and produce in Siberia. Not to be confused with the later (1918), similar looking share of the same company (issued after a new capital increase).
