Lotnumber: 410
CHAMBERY. black. No 1280. Issued in year 5 of the republican calendar (1796/7) for the acquisition of a property described as a "martinette" (we believe this to be a countryhouse) in the village of Taninge (now Taninges) in the département of Mont Blanc (now in Haute-Savoie), formerly the property of the Chartreuse de Mélan (a monastery). It required the buyer to pay 13 franc 78 centimes to the Receveur des Domaines Nationaux at Chambéry, as a part-payment for the property. During the French Revolution, a lot of real estate, both from the nobility as the clergy, was confiscated and became part of the 'Domaines Nationaux'. Soon after, they were sold to the benefit of the State. This document, a partial payment, confirms such a transaction.
